As you may have gathered by now, I draw my energy and inspiration from the outdoors.
It’s difficult to worry about pressing deadlines or life’s major stressors when you smell the crisp air, hear the rustling wildlife and gape at the stunning beauty around you.
The rock formations I find along the trails help ground me. They remind me of my bedrock values of integrity, connection, compassion, creativity, humor and kindness. Over the past few years, I’ve felt more empowered to incorporate these values in the way I show up in both my personal and professional life. It’s liberating to remove the once stoic, “professional” mask and replace it with a more human one.
Truly successful organizations live their values and don’t shy away from emotions; they face them head on. Audiences expect no less from their favorite brands. When you’re emotionally aware and consider others’ values and feelings, you communicate better.
If you don’t have the luxury of escaping to one of Mother Nature’s idyllic sites to gain some perspective, contact me before tackling your next communications challenge.
