The Importance of Resilience

I marvel at people who can focus on the end game in an age of instant gratification.

It isn’t easy to keep plugging away, sometimes taking one step forward for every two steps backward. Day after day, the obstacle course can be exhausting, especially when you add a coronavirus pandemic to the mix. That’s why I’m especially proud of a dear friend and film industry leader who has gone the distance. Her sheer determination and extraordinary vision and creativity have helped her reach many personal and professional milestones.

Today is Director/Producer Fran Burst-Terranella’s birthday and the launch on Amazon Prime of her independent feature film, The 12 Lives of Sissy Carlyle. What a birthday present – a celebration of her years of opening doors and showcasing Georgia’s talented entertainment community. Many people in her shoes would have stopped long ago. But, not Fran. She refuses to give up.

You have to admire an individual who decides to create her first feature film after four decades of directing TV shows, commercials, Public Service Announcements, documentaries and more. I’ve been fortunate to join Fran on part of her journey. It has been an honor to serve as the public relations consultant for this comedy/romance film about loss, imaginary worlds and self-discovery. Like Sissy Carlyle, the film’s protagonist, Fran imagines “what if” and takes a chance on herself and the real world.
